Open PDFecto

Free · Works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, on older computers too.

Your documents never leave your device

PDFecto opens, edits and saves files inside your browser. It is that simple: what is never sent cannot be lost.

Nothing is uploaded

No server ever sees your files: they are processed on your computer or phone.

No sign-up

No account, email or password needed.

No cookies

Only visits, which tools are used and for how long are counted, anonymously; never anything of your documents.

Nothing to install

Open the page and start. Nothing to download or update.

Everything you need for your PDFs

From fixing a typo to signing a contract, without switching programs.

Edit the text

Change what the document says, right on the page.

Annotate and draw

Notes, callouts, highlighter, pencil, shapes, arrows and numbered steps.

Realistic stamps

Turn a picture of your stamp into a rubber stamp that looks like real ink.

Digital signature

With AutoFirma (Spanish DNIe and installed certificates) or a certificate file. And see if anyone changed it afterwards.

Watermark

A text or an image on every page, with the angle and opacity you choose.

Passwords

Protect a PDF with a password, or open ones that already have one.

Compress

Shrink the file so it can be emailed without trouble.

Pages

Merge several PDFs, split them, reorder, rotate or delete pages.

Export

To Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images or flat PDF, and email it straight from the app.

Select text and add up amounts

Copy the text on the page, or mark its numbers and get the sum on a tape to paste into your spreadsheet.

Simulate a scan

Make the document look printed and scanned: the paper, the tilt, the folds and even a staple.

Presentation

Show the PDF full screen, page by page, in a meeting.

Compare versions

See what changed between two versions of a document, with every change marked.

Snapshots

Copy an area of the page as an image to paste into an email, a document or a chat.

Your handwritten signature

Scan your signature once, or type your name and pick the lettering, and put it on any document with one click.

Always guided

PDFecto tells you what it is doing, lets you know when it is done and explains any problem.

Everyday PDF jobs, without uploading to any website

The usual tasks, done in your own browser.

Edit a PDF online for free

Open the PDF, click on the text and fix it right on the page. Add notes, arrows or highlights and save. No sign-up and nothing to install.

Sign a PDF with AutoFirma or the Spanish DNIe

PDFecto opens AutoFirma so you can pick your Spanish electronic ID card (DNIe) or an installed certificate. The signature follows the European PDF signature standard (PAdES).

Sign with a .pfx or .p12 certificate

If your digital certificate is stored in a file, sign with it directly. The file and its password never leave your device. Several people can sign the same PDF.

Merge, split and compress PDFs without uploading them

Combine several PDFs into one, split pages out or shrink the file to send it by email. Ideal for payslips, contracts or medical reports you would rather not upload anywhere.

Convert a PDF to Word or Excel

Export the document to Word or Excel to keep working on it, or to images. The conversion is approximate, so check the result.

On old or work computers

Works with Chrome and Edge from version 109 and Firefox from 115, the last versions for Windows 7, 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2. Since nothing is installed, no administrator rights are needed.

Frequently asked questions

Is PDFecto free?

Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up and no account: open the page and start.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Files are opened, edited and saved inside your browser, and no server receives them. A document only leaves your device if you email it or save it to a network folder yourself.

How do I sign a PDF with AutoFirma or the Spanish DNIe?

Install AutoFirma, which is free and can be downloaded from the Spanish Government's Electronic Signature Portal (Portal de Firma Electrónica), and, if you use the DNIe, connect the card reader. In PDFecto press “Sign”, choose AutoFirma and select your certificate in the window that opens.

Can I sign with a certificate file?

Yes: with .pfx or .p12 files (in Mexico, also .cer and .key) and their password. It works in any country, and the signing happens in your browser without sending the certificate anywhere.

Can I edit the text of a scanned PDF?

Text that is already in a PDF can be changed right on the page. A scanned document, however, is an image: its text cannot be edited, but you can write notes on it, highlight it, stamp it or sign it.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Chrome, Edge or Firefox is enough. Only if you want to sign with AutoFirma do you need AutoFirma installed on the computer.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, with the basic tools. The full set of features is in the computer version.

How is it different from other PDF websites?

It does the usual tasks (editing, signing, merging, splitting, compressing or converting PDFs), but without uploading your files to any server: everything happens in your browser.

Which languages is it available in?

Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian and Japanese.
